Registered as a Licensed Optician/Contact lens fitter with the College of Opticians of BC

Main Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Designs complete eyewear product by incorporating frame design elements, lens materials and optics with patient's prescription and lifestyle requirements.
- Performs eyeglass frame adjustments and repairs. Includes proper aligment of frame, comfortable fit, functional vision and instructions on proper wear and care of eyeglasses.
- Perform accurate measurements of lens power, pupilary distance, multifocal segment height, lens base curve, vertex distance and prism power.
- Orders custom lens product from wholesale optical laboratories, monitors process, post charges and bill insurance when needed.
- Edge lenses to fames and verify accuracy before dispensing.
- Order Contact lenses for patients.
- Perform thorough contact lens exams including the recommended follow up exams.
- Verfies lens prescriptions of the ordered lenses and check for accuracy with COBC standards.
- Assists in wholesale purchasing of frames and other products for resale to patients.
- Assists in the return of authorized merchendise to manufactures and prepare credit forms.
- Designs, arrange and maintains product displays.
- Organizes, maintains, and cleans frames and display areas throughout the work day.
- Monitors product inventory levels.
- Maintains instruments and hand tools used in the lab and dispensary.
- Maintains up to date job knowledge by attending after work training.
- Answers phones when needed and helps front end staff with check ins and check out of patients.
- Calls patients when orders are in and schedules appointments for pick ups or follow ups.
- Provides patient education regarding lens materials, products, and designs.
- Provides accurate recommendations to patients regarding proper eyeglass frame selection.
- Educates the patient on how to properly maintain,care for, and wear their contacts and/or eyeglasses.
Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyewear based on their prescription and style preferences
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear
- Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and other enhancements to meet their vision needs
- Process orders for eyewear, including verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed to ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain inventory of frames, lenses, and other optical supplies
- Provide exceptional customer service and resolve any issues or concerns
Other duties
- -Assisting the team with checking in and checking out patients
- -Answering phones, emails and texts
- -Insertion and removal training ( soft contacts , rigid gas permeable lens, sclerals)
- -Assisting with dry eye therapies
- General office duties
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of different types of lenses, frames, and other optical products
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with customers and colleagues
- Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately measure and fit eyewear
- Proficient in using optical equipment for measurements and adjustments
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment
- Knowledge of insurance billing processes for eyewear is a plus

Work Location: In person
Your duties will include mainly edging, frame selection, lens dispensing, glasses repair and adjustments. In addition, contact lens training, ordering and knowledge is a must. Occasionally duties might include clerical work, booking patients, phone calls, etc.
Working hours will range from 30-40 hours per week and dependent on business needs, including evenings and Saturdays. Flexibility is ideal.
Training will be provided for the right candidate, but this position does require previous experience. Being positive, easy going, and having great communication skills with our patients and with other staff members is essential and this is what will set you apart from the rest. The right candidate must be able to communicate effectively in person and on the phone.
Remuneration is very competitive and based on experience.

.Interpret the Spectacle or Contact lens Prescription from the Optometrists
.Educating the patient on the best spectacle lens product and design for their prescription and selecting the perfect frame
.Orders the appropriate product and ensures its accuracy upon completion.
.Frame adjustments and repairs as well as keeping up with the latest innovations in eyewear.
.Contact lens instruction including insertion and removal technique and cleaning and handling best practices.
.Pretesting patients with a variety of tests (A/R, keratometry, IOP's, VF, fundus photos, scans, BP).
Answering phones, booking appointments and providing invoices.
The most important aspect of the job is being a thoughtful team member and astute listener for ensuring optimal service to our patients.
